- Look for the letters “R” for right, and “L” for left, stamped on each pedal spindle. “R” is for the right side crank arm, “L” is for the left side crank arm
- Lightly grease the threads on each pedal spindle.
- Install the right side pedal into the right side crank arm (chainwheel each pedal spindle by hand to avoid stripping the threads.
- Install the right side pedal into the right side crank arm. Start the pedal spindle by hand to avoid stripping the threads. Note that the right side pedal attaches to the chainwheel side crank arm with a right-hand (clockwise) thread.
- Tighten with a 15mm narrow open ended wrench. The pedals must be very secure for safe riding.
- Install the left side pedal into the left side crank arm. Start the pedal spindle by hand to avoid stripping the threads. Note that the left side pedal attaches to the other crank arm with a left-hand (counter-clockwise) thread.
- Tighten with a 15mm narrow open ended wrench. The pedals must be very secure for safe riding.
